February Astromusings – New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse 26/27 February, More Mysteries of the Universe Revealed with Discovery of 7 Earth-like Exoplanets

New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse 26/27 February

new-moonThere will be a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 8 degrees Pisces 12 on 27 February at 1.58 AEDT Sydney time. The New Moon which marks the beginning of the new cycle is a time to initiate new projects, to sow the seeds for the new crop. Being in the sign of Pisces it promotes the invisible realm of dreams, fantasies and imagination. Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, conjuncts the New Moon highlighting this otherworldly quality. It is an ideal time to take advantage of this heightened awareness and intuition to visualise your goals so they can come to fruition at the end of the cycle. It is a good time to take note of your dreams as they are messages from your unconscious. As well as ruling the imaginal realm Pisces rules the arts, ballet, music and theatre etc. However, along with the transcendant qualities Neptune can also be illusory causing deception, delusion and misunderstandings and disillusionment so there is need for discernment.

Annular Solar Eclipse

Annular Solar Eclipse
An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon covers the Sun’s centre, leaving the Sun’s visible outer edges to form a “ring of fire” or annulus (derived from the Latin word for ring) around the Moon. The ring of fire marks the maximum stage of anannular solar eclipse. Solar eclipses occur when the Moon casts a shadow on Earth.

Cardinal T Square
There is some volatile energy involved in this eclipse with dynamic Mars conjuncting unpredictable Uranus in the sign of Aries opposing Jupiter which magnifies this volatile energy and squares Pluto in Capricorn. This configuration is called a cardinal T square which causes tension where opposing  energies are pulling in opposite directions which will be felt both on a personal and collective level.

Galactic Centre

The Galactic Centre
Saturn  known as the Lord of Karma and the planet of practicality is conjunct the Galactic Centre which is the rotational centre of the Milky Way. Esoterically it is referred to as the heart centre emitting waves of love. It is 26 and half degrees of Sagittarius with transiting Saturn being 26 degrees Sagittarius 35. Saturn falls in the 12th house ruled by Pisces which deals with karma, the unconscious and institutions. Added to this pattern the karmic south node at 3 degrees Pisces is conjuncting the New Moon so there is this recurring Piscean theme characterising this Solar eclipse. You may find that there may be unfinished business with people or issues from the past that arise which need to be resolved.

NASA Announces Discovery of 7 Exoplanets Orbiting Trappist – 1 in Constellation of Aquarius
It is an interesting piece of synchronicity that at the time of writing this post about the hidden realm of Neptune and Pisces that NASA has just announced to the world their discovery of seven Earth-like Exoplanets orbiting TRAPPIST-1 raising hope that the hunt for alien life beyond the solar system can start much sooner than previously thought.

TRAPPIST-1 is a Jupiter-sized ultra-cool star located 40 light-years away in the constellation of Aquarius. It’s the first time that they have discovered so many Earth-sized planets around a star. At least three of the planets fall within what is called the Goldilocks zone — where the temperature range on the surface may permit the existence of liquid water, considered a necessity for life.

The star made first news in May 2016 with the observation of three Earth-sized planets orbiting around it observed by the earth – based Very Large Telescope in Chile. The planets were discovered because of the brief dimming that happened as they passed across the face of the star.  Observing the the star continuously for three weeks in a row through the Spitzer Space Telescope astronomers were able to see all the transits happening.

This revealed another four planets (totalling seven altogether), also Earth-sized, all orbiting very close to the star, which is about a thousand times dimmer than ou r Sun and shines in a much cooler infrared part of the light spectrum. A world previously hidden is revealed!

inanna-descentSymbolism of Number Seven – the Descent of Inanna, Sumerian Queen of Heaven and Earth
It is significant that seven planets have been discovered as numerologically seven is the number of mystery. There were seven ancient planets and there are seven days of the week and seven chakras.  The ancient Sumerian myth, Inanna Queen of Heaven and Earth recounts Inanna’s descent to the Underworld where the Goddess visits and reunites with her dark self or sister Ereshkigal, Queen of the Underworld. It is very much a lunar myth of the dark moon. During her descent Inanna encounters seven gates – the number of days of the waning moon – where she has to give up the seven regalia of her office. When She finally meets her sister, she dies and has to hang on a hook for three days – the number of days of the dark moon.
